Created most likely in 1944 by Victor Jules Bergeron, known as Trader’s Vic – one of the fathers of tiki cocktail culture, inspired by Polynesian culture. The Mai Tai is one of the most popular cocktails of that era. The name probably derives from the Tahitian language, which translates as ‘exquisite’.
The recipe for the perfect cocktail:
- pour 40 ml of alcohol into a glass.
- add 100 ml of POSHE Drinks.
- add a few ice cubes.
Serving suggestion: best served in combination with rum, in a low glass or decorative tiki glass, filled with cubes or crushed ice.
Decoration: fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime.
